Interleukin 1 (IL-1) is a cytokine produced by some of the cells in our circulating blood. They play a crucial role in the inflammation and pain pathway. This cytokine is counteracted by an antagonist. In other words, the antagonist blocks the action of IL1 and is known as IL1 receptor antagonist (IL-1 RA) Extraction and concentration of IL -1RA is now possible and introduction of IL-1RA into pain generators has been in use in Europe since 1997 in about 90,000 patients. This treatment may be suitable for osteoarthritis, post surgical pain, frozen shoulder/capsulitis, sciatica, disc degeneration amongst many other painful musculoskeletal and spinal conditions. This treatment is now available at IGTC
